December 2025 Polish Railway Timetable: Expanded Services and Regional Improvements

On December 14, 2025, Poland’s rail network welcomed a major update with the introduction of new timetables for both PKP Intercity and POLREGIO services. Passengers now have nearly 560 PKP Intercity connections at their disposal, including 531 year-round and 28 seasonal trains—an increase of 54 connections compared with last year. Regular, cyclic departures on key domestic and international routes make planning journeys simpler, with trains departing at predictable intervals. For example, Gdynia–Warszawa sees hourly departures, Gdynia–Kraków at least every two hours, and Wrocław–Kraków hourly. Internationally, trains run every two hours from Warszawa to Berlin, every four hours from Kraków to Wien, and every four hours from Kraków, Warszawa, Wrocław, Poznań, and Gdynia to Praha.

New and Extended Express Services

PKP Intercity has expanded its Express InterCity Premium (EIP) services with new direct connections. A Pendolino train now runs from Gdynia to Zakopane, via Warszawa and Kraków, providing swift access to the Tatra Mountains. During the holiday season, this service is extended to Kołobrzeg, offering seaside travel for holidaymakers. Similarly, a direct Pendolino from Bielsko-Biała to Ustka, extended from Gdynia, gives residents of the Silesian Voivodeship a direct connection to the Baltic coast.

The number of express services has increased across other popular routes as well. Fifteen new EIC trains operate between Gdynia and Warszawa, running hourly throughout the day. Services between Kraków and Gdynia and Kraków and Warszawa have also been expanded. New express trains include the EIC Viadrina on the Wrocław–Poznań–Warszawa route and a holiday service connecting Kraków with the Hel peninsula.

Improved Regional Accessibility

PKP Intercity has enhanced connections to smaller urban centres. Gorzów Wlkp. now has five new direct trains to Poznań, cutting travel times by up to 40 minutes. An additional direct service, TLK Krajna, links Piła, Chojnice, and Czersk with Gdynia. From Poznań, two extra daily pairs of trains reach Szczecin, thanks to extended routes of IC Koziołek (Lublin–Szczecin) and IC Ślązak (Przemyśl–Szczecin). New IC Kiliński provides travellers with an early morning and late evening service between Poznań and Warszawa.

In southern Poland, extensions of IC Fredro and IC Konopnicka provide two new direct services from Warszawa to Jelenia Góra. Daily trains, IC Orzeszkowa and IC Karkonosze, now run year-round rather than only during holiday periods. Chełm residents benefit from five daily services (up from three) to Warszawa including the new IC Uznam night train connecting Chełm with Świnoujście and Berlin. Other seasonal improvements include IC Stańczyk extending to Pisz via Szczytno and Ruciane-Nida, while IC Wigry links Szczecin with Vilnius via Poznań, Warszawa, Białystok, and Suwałki.

POLREGIO: Strengthened Regional and Local Services

POLREGIO has similarly strengthened regional connections and restored long-discontinued services. In Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesia), a new Friday service now operates between Wrocław and Rybnik, and a Kluczbork–Częstochowa train has been extended to Wrocław. The popular Malinka train now runs all the way to Wrocław on weekends and daily during winter holidays, providing direct access from Lower Silesia to the Beskidy Śląskie (Silesian Beskids).

In Kujawsko-Pomorskie, railway services from Toruń to Aleksandrów Kujawski have been extended to the spa town of Ciechocinek. Other improvements in the voivodeship include the extension of Olsztyn–Toruń services to Bydgoszcz and Bydgoszcz–Koszalin services to Kołobrzeg. In Lublin Voivodeship, Hrubieszów Miasto has improved access from Lublin, Bełżec, and Zamość. Several routes have been extended, including Lublin–Biała Podlaska now terminating at Terespol, alongside additional weekday services Lublin–Lubartów and Lublin–Chełm.

In Łódź Voivodeship, new services include Chorzew Siemkowice–Łódź Kaliska via Zduńska Wola Karsznice, additional trains between Częstochowa and Chorzew Siemkowice, and extra daily pairs on the Łódź–Bydgoszcz route. In Małopolska, three additional accelerated trains—Groń, Szyndzielnia, and Skawa—now operate between Kraków Główny and Bielsko-Biała. A new night train from Kraków Główny to Trzebinia runs on weekends, selected holidays, and special dates in January and June.

Opole Voivodeship has gained the new Ignacy train connecting Wrocław, Rybnik, and Kędzierzyn-Koźle on Friday afternoons, while additional services strengthen routes to Nysa, Gliwice, and surrounding towns. The Malinka train now starts its journey in Wrocław, providing direct access to popular mountain destinations. In Podkarpackie, service frequency increases have been introduced on the Jasło–Krosno section, and weekend connections operate on Dębica–Mielec, Jarosław–Lubaczów, and Horyniec Zdrój–Przeworsk.]

In Podlaskie, new connections include Sokółka–Kuźnica Białostocka and an early morning service from Siemiatycze to Białystok. From January 2026, additional trains will run on the Białystok–Sokółka, Białystok–Łapy, and Białystok–Czyżew routes. In Pomerania, extra daily trains run between Gdynia Chylonia and Elbląg, while Gdynia Chylonia–Malbork services now extend to Elbląg. Trains between Gdynia and Słupsk, previously weekdays-only, now operate daily.

Across Silesia, Warmia-Masuria, Wielkopolska, and Zachodniopomorskie, the December timetable introduces a range of improvements. Faster journeys, restored lines, and new combined routes now make travel between regional centres and smaller communities smoother and more reliable. From Wrocław to the Karkonosze Mountains, Szczecin to the Baltic coast, and beyond, passengers can enjoy a more connected, convenient railway network than ever before.
