Due to high demand, the inclusion of a sleeping car on the overnight Baltic Express service between Praha and Gdynia has been extended until the end of September (Table 63). The sleeping car was originally due to cease operation at the end of August.
As previously reported in the April 2025 digital edition, nightjet 295/294 Munchen – Roma and 40233/40294 Wien – Roma are confirmed as withdrawn from September 28. However, from this date, nightjet 295/294 Munchen – Milano and 40235/40233 Wien – Milano are rerouted via Bologna to provide good connections to and from Firenze and Roma (Table 71).
Great Britain
Services on the London Waterloo to Exeter route will not be calling at Crewkerne until further notice (Table 109). The extended spell of dry weather in the area has affected the ground conditions which has disturbed the track level. As a result, a 40 miles per hour speed restriction is currently in place over a distance of four miles in the Crewkerne area. To avoid impacting the whole service on this route, the decision has been made to temporarily omit Crewkerne station calls. Passengers travelling to and from Crewkerne will need to use a rail replacement bus service operating between Yeovil and Axminster.
France
Engineering work taking place between Boisseaux and Les Aubrais until March 2027 will see the number of trains between Paris and Orleans significantly reduced during certain periods. Table 294 has been updated with timings for the period from August 18 to October 19. Please check with French Railways for journeys until August 17. This work also affects weekday services in Table 296.
Switzerland
The main line between Bern and Fribourg is temporarily closed until August 24 so that essential engineering work can be carried out (Table 500). A non-stop rail replacement bus service operates every ten minutes between Bern and Fribourg (every 15 minutes after 2000). Passengers making long-distance journeys between Bern and Lausanne are advised to travel via Neuchatel.
Italy
Essential maintenance work taking place on the Bressana Bottarone bridge, which carries the Milano to Genova main line over the river Po, has resulted in timing changes to many trains serving Genova until September 28. Tables 580, 608, 609 and 610 have been updated with the latest timings.
Spain
Many services in Tables 650a and 654 have been retimed, including Alvia services between Madrid and Pamplona/Iruna.
Norway
Due to infrastructure damage caused by a landslide in the Romsdalen area, the Raumabanen between Dombas and Andalsnes is likely to be closed until at least the end of August (Table 785).
Germany
The main line between Berlin and Hamburg is temporarily closed from August 2 for a period of nine months resulting in major alterations to both long-distance and regional services. During the closure a reduced ICE service operates between Berlin and Hamburg with trains diverted via Salzwedel while EC trains from and to Praha do not run between Berlin and Hamburg. A special version of Table 840 with the amended schedules will be found on page 594. Services on the Hamburg – Rostock – Stralsund route are also affected with only a limited number of through IC trains (which are diverted via Lubeck); a special version of Table 830 will be found on page 593. Regional services between Berlin and Wismar are diverted via Neustrelitz and the revised schedules can be found in a separate version of Table 837 on page 594. Regional services in Table 841 are also affected and the updated timings can be found on page 592.
Austria
Following an eight-month closure for major route upgrade work, the Tauern Tunnel route between Schwarzach-St Veit and Villach fully reopened on July 14 (Table 970).
